Using OE Reference Numbers and Partslink Numbers for BMW, Mercedes-Benz & Audi Aftermarket Exterior Replacement Parts
U.S. distributors and body shops do not all organize parts information in the same way. One purchasing team may work with OE reference numbers, while another may use Partslink numbers.
Sivali can work with either reference format when reviewing B2B requests for BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Audi non-OEM aftermarket exterior replacement parts. This guide explains what each number means and how to tell us which format your company prefers.
How the Two Reference Systems Differ
What Is an OE Reference Number?
An OE reference number is a vehicle manufacturer’s part number used as a cross-reference for a requested non-OEM replacement product. Including it in an RFQ can help identify the product the buyer wants Sivali to review.
What Is a Partslink Number?
The PARTSLINK Numbering System was established by the Automotive Body Parts Association, or ABPA, as a universal numbering system for identifying aftermarket collision replacement parts.
A Partslink number provides distributors, repair businesses and suppliers with a common reference for an aftermarket replacement part.
What These Numbers Do—and Do Not Tell You
An OE reference number connects a request to a vehicle manufacturer’s part number. A Partslink number identifies an aftermarket collision replacement part within the PARTSLINK system. Both can help make a product request more precise.
Neither number indicates that a Sivali product is genuine OEM, and neither number alone confirms fitment. Sivali’s products covered by this guide are non-OEM aftermarket replacement parts.
A Partslink number is a product identifier, not a quality certification.
When available, include relevant vehicle information and a product description together with the reference number.
How Sivali Uses Your Preferred Reference Format
Tell us whether your purchasing team prefers OE reference numbers or Partslink numbers. You can continue using the format already found in your purchasing records, repair estimates or parts lists; you do not need to convert everything into a different numbering system before requesting a quote.
If you already have a reference number, include it with the product description and any relevant vehicle information. If no reference number is available, provide the clearest product and vehicle information you have.
Sivali uses its internal catalog to review the submitted product and reference information, then handles the request through its internal quotation process. Product references can be provided according to the buyer’s preferred format.
